Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions page. Here, we've compiled some of the most common questions we receive about our installation services.

Location

CPW Truck Stuff & Wheels is located at 7601 W. 191st Street in Tinley Park, IL. We're located in the back of the building, so please follow the signs to our parking lot and enter through the gate.

Lift Kit Installations

How much does it cost to install a lift kit? The cost for a 6-inch lift kit installation is generally around $5,000. However, the exact price can vary depending on the brand, your vehicle's make and model, and whether any OEM parts need to be replaced.

How long does it take to install a lift kit? On average, it takes about 8-10 hours to install a suspension lift kit. Older trucks (5 years or more from the current model year) may take longer, as rusted bolts may need to be removed and other non-lift kit parts may need to be replaced for proper ride quality and safety.

Can I install one lift kit on top of another? While it's possible in rare situations, it's generally not recommended to stack different lift kits. If you want to upgrade to a bigger lift kit, it's best to remove the old kit first before installing the new one.

Does installing a lift kit affect my factory warranty? No, your factory warranty remains valid. The manufacturer would need to prove that the lift kit was the direct cause of any defects in order to deny warranty coverage. Our ASE-certified mechanics can work on your vehicle just like a dealer.

Can I install a lift kit myself? It's possible to install a lift kit yourself, but we don't recommend it, especially if this is your primary vehicle. Lift kit installations can be complex and require specialized tools and expertise. For the best results and to ensure your safety, we advise having a professional shop handle the installation.

Tires and Wheels

What do I need to fit 33x12.5x20 MT tires on my truck? Typically, a leveling kit will be enough to accommodate those tires. However, if that's not sufficient, a lift and leveling kit combination would work.

Can I just put a leveling kit on my truck, or should I get a lift kit? Yes, you can install a leveling kit, which will only lift the front of your vehicle. A lift kit, on the other hand, will provide a lift to both the front and rear.

What kind of lift or leveling kit will give me the best ride on the street but also allow for basic off-roading? In this case, a combination lift and leveling kit would be your best option.
